Leonardo Apprentice Foundation (a 501(3)c nonprofit) is an educational Research & Development Organization pioneering a pathway for students by equiping and supporting their teachers' growth with the resources and job skills to succeed.
We envision the next generation of scientists, engineers, and agents of change fulfilling their full potential, because of the support and partnerships we had with their teachers & instructors in helping them to move their students forward.
Peter Romero is an innovative educator and technology pioneer with over four decades of experience in online education and emerging technologies. He holds a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Instructional Design, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. Mr. Romero's credentials include two California State Teaching Credentials: one in Programming and System Design, and another in Career Technical Education (CTE) for Media Arts and Technology. He has also earned a certificate in Emerging Technologies, further solidifying his expertise in cutting-edge educational practices.
In 1969, Mr. Romero made history by launching "Space Island," the first online educational program of its kind. This groundbreaking project-based, student-directed initiative reached an impressive 2.3 million students and teachers across 40 countries. The program's significance was recognized when it was inducted into the Library of Congress in 1996 as a historic event, cementing Mr. Romero's status as a pioneer in online education.
Today, Mr. Romero continues to push the boundaries of education as the founder of Leonardo's Apprentice Foundation. This nonprofit organization focuses on integrating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality into Career Technical Education programs. His work also aims to provide underprivileged youth with access to cutting-edge educational resources and career guidance.
