Today, we teach mathematics as a separate entity giving it a lifeless and abstract presents.  However, did you know in the 19th century Cambridge would not allow a math student who was majoring in mathematics to proceed further in his studies until he completed courses in the Arts.  Mathematics was always a part of the Arts.
